How to Hang Your New Wallpaper

So its time, don’t worry it might look daunting so here’s some tips to help you get a great finish!

  • Grab your plumb line/measuring tool to draw a vertical line on the wall to the right side of the first area to be papered, this will be the guide edge for the first strip of wallpaper you hang

  • Select an area of clear wall and measure the length ceiling to skirting board. Add a little extra length if you're unsure, for movement, mark this length with a pencil on the back of the paper so you know where you need to make the first cut. Neatly cut a straight line at this pencil mark to make your first length of wallpaper

  • Apply the wallpaper paste directly to the wall in even layers, not to the wallpaper. Starting top to bottom should be easier, make sure you paste a little wider than the wallpaper width to ensure all the edges are stuck down properly

  • Now your ready to put the first piece up! starting at the top smooth the wallpaper onto the pasted wall. Whilst sliding the paper into place making sure your edge is aligned with the vertical plumb line you made earlier

  • When it looks straight smooth it out from the centre to the edges using a clean cloth. Removing any bubbles pushing them from the centre out

  • Trim off any excess wallpaper top and bottom using a knife and ruler. Now you're ready to repeat the process for the rest of the wall and room.

  • Ensure to match the pattern exactly each time to get a seamless finish and pattern
